We didn’t stumble into this life. We built it on purpose.

The Story Behind Arrows & Acres

Our Story

There was a moment — not one dramatic day, but a slow, accumulating realization — when we understood that if we didn’t build this family on purpose, the world would build it by default.

We were surrounded by it. Families who loved their children deeply but had handed the formation of those children to screens, institutions, and cultural pressure. Marriages that started strong and slowly drifted — not through crisis, but through neglect. Men who didn’t know how to lead. Women who had been handed two competing scripts and told to pick one.

We didn’t want either script.

So we started building differently. We pulled our kids out of school and started teaching them at home. We stopped giving our children personal devices. We started treating our land as a classroom and our marriage as the foundation — not a side note. We launched a home church. We started the Gulf Coast Family Camp, because we knew we weren’t the only ones who wanted to build like this. And somewhere in the middle of all of it, we realized we had something worth sharing.

That’s what Arrows & Acres is. It’s not a podcast about perfection. It’s a field report from a family that has made a thousand mistakes and kept building anyway.

Meet Daniel & Allison Hartman

Daniel Hartman

Daniel Hartman is a husband, father, entrepreneur, and farmer. He has spent the last two decades building things — businesses, a homestead, a family culture — and learning the hard way that the most important thing a man builds isn’t a company. It’s a home.

He is the co-founder of several family businesses, a home church leader, a land steward of 100 acres in the Florida Gulf Coast, and the co-host and co-founder of Arrows & Acres. His convictions are biblical, his methods are practical, and his goal is simple: to raise children who can face the world with character and faith.

Allison Hartman

Allison Hartman is a wife, mother of 11, homeschool educator, and the architect of the Hartman family culture. She believes that the woman who builds her home doesn’t do it in the margins of her husband’s vision — she does it as a co-equal builder of something that will outlast them both.

Allison brings clarity, warmth, and a fiercely practical perspective to every conversation on Arrows & Acres. She speaks directly to mothers who want to lead their homes well, wives who want a covenant marriage built on shared conviction, and women who are done being told they have to choose between calling and family.

Together

Together, Daniel and Allison have built a life that most people are told isn’t possible: 11 children, multiple thriving family businesses, a working homestead, no personal devices for their kids, a home church, and a community of families doing the same through the Gulf Coast Family Camp.

They’re not theorists. They’re practitioners. And Arrows & Acres exists because they believe what they’ve built is reproducible — by any family willing to build on purpose.
